
The tower is equipped with a system to measure water and CO2 at 12 levels and temperature at 8 levels, taking a vertical profile measurement of the air in and above the forest – this information is used in conjunction with the eddy covariance system to infer net gas and heat exchanges. A net radiometer measures incoming and outgoing radiation in the shortwave and longwave bands above the forest.
The MOFLUX profile system (left), designed and built by Mr. Jeff Riggs, is housed in a climate controlled shed at the base of the tower.
